Our Commitment to Reconciliation
At Milestones Early Learning, we believe every child deserves to grow up in a world that values respect, inclusivity and connection to culture. That’s why we’re proud to be part of Affinity Education Group’s Reconciliation journey - a journey grounded in reflection, understanding, and action.
As part of this commitment, Affinity Education has developed its first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), endorsed by Reconciliation Australia. This plan outlines the meaningful steps we’re taking to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures - across our centres, our curriculum, and our workplace.
What does this mean for families?
It means that when your child attends a Milestones centre, they’re learning and growing in an environment that celebrates and respects Australia’s First Nations peoples. From Acknowledgements of Country to authentic learning experiences, our educators thoughtfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into everyday routines and play-based learning.
It also means we’re creating inclusive spaces for all families and children - places where curiosity is encouraged, cultural learning is ongoing, and respectful relationships are nurtured.
What’s included in our RAP?
Our Reflect RAP is just the beginning. It sets out how Affinity Education will:
- Provide cultural responsiveness training for all staff
- Partner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander educators, artists and organisations (like Wandana Aboriginal Education)
- Celebrate cultural events such as National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week
- Create more opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment and support First Nations-owned businesses
- Foster inclusive practices across all centres, including Milestones Early Learning
These actions are woven into our Lifelong Learning Curriculum, giving children the chance to learn about culture, land, stories and community in a meaningful, age-appropriate way.
