First Nations Education

Celebrating Culture, Story and Connection

At Milestones, we believe that learning about Australia’s First Nations cultures is a vital part of every child’s early education. Through our valued partnership with Wandana Aboriginal Education, we bring authentic Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learning experiences into our centres, helping children develop a genuine understanding of, and respect for, one of the world’s oldest living cultures.

What Children Experience

First Nations Education is woven into everyday learning at Milestones through storytelling, music, art, language and connection to Country. Children are introduced to:

  • Dreamtime stories - traditional stories passed down through generations
  • Music and dance - cultural songs, rhythms and movement
  • Art and symbols - the meaning and significance of Aboriginal artwork
  • Language - words and phrases from First Nations languages
  • Connection to Country - understanding the deep relationship between First Nations peoples and the land

Our Partnership with Wandana Aboriginal Education

Everything delivered through our First Nations Education program is guided by Wandana Aboriginal Education, ensuring the knowledge, stories and traditions shared with children are culturally accurate, appropriate and handled with genuine respect for First Nations communities. This partnership is central to how we approach reconciliation in early childhood, creating learning environments where every child grows in cultural understanding and belonging.
