How to Enrol in Childcare

Balloons

Choosing the right childcare centre is an exciting step for your family. Quality early childhood education helps build strong foundations for learning, social development, and school readiness. At Milestones Early Learning, we’re here to make the enrolment process as smooth as possible. Follow these simple steps to enrol your child in our nurturing and high-quality early learning environment. Our dedicated team is here to provide personalised support every step of the way.

Important: Applying for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) early is highly recommended, as approvals can take up to six weeks. To avoid delays, start your application as soon as possible so your subsidy is in place before your child's first day. This will help you plan with confidence and avoid unexpected out-of-pocket expenses.

1. Book a Tour

Visiting a childcare centre in person is the best way to see if it’s the right fit for your family. Our friendly team is here to help you through the process and answer any questions you may have.

We encourage families to:

  • Use our Childcare Checklist when touring childcare centres to know what to look for.
  • Find your nearest centre using our Find a Centre tool (search by postcode).
  • To arrange a personalised tour, contact our Family Support Team on 1800 244 532. They will assist you in booking a convenient time and provide guidance on what to expect during your visit.
  • On the tour, you will meet our experienced educators, explore the learning environments, and be able to ask any questions about our curriculum and daily routines. Our friendly team is here to help you through the process and answer any questions you may have.

2. Understand the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)

To make childcare more affordable, families may be eligible for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), which can significantly reduce out-of-pocket fees. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Check your eligibility for the Child Care Subsidy through Services Australia.
  • Ensure your Centrelink CRN (Customer Reference Number) is ready.
  • If you need assistance estimating your subsidy, our team is happy to guide you through the process or direct you to helpful resources.

For more information, visit our Child Care Subsidy page.

3. Gather Your Enrolment Information

To complete your child’s enrolment, you will need to provide:

  • Your child’s birth certificate or passport
  • Medicare details
  • Immunisation History Statement (available through MyGov or Medicare)
  • Emergency contact details
  • Medical information (including allergies or special requirements)

Our friendly team will guide you through the process, assisting with paperwork and answering any subsidy-related questions to ensure everything is in place before your child’s first day.

4. Secure Your Place on the Waitlist (If Needed)

Some of our centres have high demand, and places may be limited. Waitlist times can vary, but our team will provide regular updates and assist in finding alternative nearby Affinity Education centres if needed. If you’re on a waitlist, rest assured that we review availability regularly and will keep you updated. In the meantime, our team can help explore alternative options at nearby locations. If your preferred centre is currently full:

  • Join the waitlist by filling out a quick online form or speaking with the centre.
  • Stay in touch with our Family Support Team or Centre Manager for updates on availability.
  • Consider flexible start dates to improve your chances of securing a spot.

5. Confirm Your Enrolment and Prepare for the First Day

Once your enrolment is confirmed:

  • Review our Family Handbook for important information about our policies, routines, and what to expect.
  • You will receive a welcome pack with key details about your child’s start date.
  • Our educators will share a settling-in plan to help your child transition smoothly.
  • To help your child settle in smoothly, make sure to pack essentials such as a labeled water bottle, spare clothing, nappies (if required), a comfort item (if needed), and a hat for outdoor play. Check out our guide on What to Bring to Childcare for a full checklist!
