At Milestones Early Learning, we believe that fostering a love for nature and wildlife from an early age helps build a generation of environmentally conscious individuals. That’s why we offer Aussie Wildlife Champions, a one-of-a-kind educational program designed for children aged 3-5 years as part of our Lifelong Learning Curriculum School Readiness Program.
Developed in collaboration with Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC), this exclusive program introduces children to the incredible biodiversity of Australian wildlife while laying the foundation for conservation awareness and responsibility.
Why Is Conservation Education Important?
Australia is home to some of the world’s most unique and endangered wildlife, with many species found nowhere else on Earth. Protecting these animals and their habitats starts with education, and by engaging young children in conservation learning, we are planting the seeds for a sustainable future.
Through Aussie Wildlife Champions, children develop:
- An understanding of Australia’s diverse ecosystems and native animals
- A sense of responsibility for protecting wildlife and habitats
- Critical thinking skills through interactive learning and exploration
- A connection to nature that fosters lifelong environmental awareness
What Children Learn in Aussie Wildlife Champions
This exciting program consists of three immersive units, each designed to engage young learners through hands-on activities, storytelling, and exploration. Children will learn about 18 iconic Australian animals, including:
- Koalas – Why are they vulnerable, and how can we help?
- Green Tree Frogs – What makes them unique in their environment?
- Kookaburras – How do they communicate, and why are they important to the ecosystem?
- And many more!
Throughout the program, children will explore key questions such as:
- What does the animal look like?
- Where does it live, and what does its habitat look like?
- How does it grow and reproduce?
- What are the threats to its survival, and how can we help?
The Australian Wildlife Conservancy is a global leader in conservation, dedicated to protecting native animal species and the habitats they depend on. By working alongside AWC, we ensure that children receive accurate, engaging, and meaningful conservation education that inspires them to care for their environment.
Together, Milestones Early Learning and AWC aim to:
- Spark curiosity about Australia’s incredible biodiversity
- Encourage respect and care for wildlife and their ecosystems
- Empower children to become future conservation leaders
