Aussie Wildlife Champions
Learning to Love and Protect Australia’s Native Wildlife
Australia is home to some of the most extraordinary wildlife on Earth, and many of these species are found nowhere else. Aussie Wildlife Champions is a conservation education program woven into our Lifelong Learning Curriculum School Readiness Program, introducing children aged 3-5 to the incredible diversity of Australian native animals and inspiring a genuine sense of care and responsibility for the natural world.
What Children Explore
The program is structured across three immersive units, through which children learn about 18 iconic Australian animals, including koalas, green tree frogs and kookaburras. For each animal, children explore:
- What the animal looks like and where it lives
- How it grows, feeds and reproduces
- What makes it unique to Australia’s ecosystems
- What threatens its survival, and how we can help
Learning happens through storytelling, hands-on activities and guided exploration, making conservation feel real, relevant and exciting for young children.
Why It Matters
Early exposure to conservation education helps children develop environmental awareness, empathy for living things and a sense of responsibility for the world around them. These aren’t just values for the classroom, they’re qualities that stay with children for life. By learning about Australia’s native wildlife while they’re young, children at Milestones grow up understanding that they have a role to play in protecting it.
