Aussie Wildlife Champions
Aussie Wildlife Champions is an educational program designed for 3-5 year old children as part of the Lifelong Learning Curriculum School Readiness program. It has been developed through a partnership between the Australian Wildlife Conservancy and Affinity Education, and is exclusive to Affinity Education owned early learning centres, including Milestones.
Australia is one of the most important nations on Earth for biodiversity. Most of Australia’s wildlife is found nowhere else in the world, making its conservation even more important. The first step in protecting our unique animals and habitats for future generations is to raise awareness of how special they are.
The Aussie Wildlife Champions program offered at Milestones aims to support young children build an understanding of our unique Australian animals and habitats, as well as foundational aspects of conservation.
This exciting program contains three units that explore the unique biodiversity of 18 of Australia's most iconic animals, including the koala, green tree frog, kookaburra and more. Children will delve into each animal's physical features, habitat, lifecycle and conservation, answering questions including:
- What does the animal look like?
- Where does the animal live?
- How does the animal reproduce and grow?
- What threatens the animal’s survival and how we can help protect it?
